Profile LakeProfile Lake lies at the base of the Old Man of the Mountain site in Franconia Notch of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. This is the headwaters of the Pemigewasset River which flows south to join with the Winnipesaukee River to form the Merrimack River. This image, enhanced with artistic filters, looks southward on an autumn day. The Profile Plaza viewing platform appears on the left.

Photograph – Great Bay Marina

Great Bay Marina
Boats are strung out along the pier and moorings as evening sun sets over Great Bay Marina in Newington, New Hampshire in late August. I used artistic filters to enhance the image, casting the trees hugging the shoreline in silhouette and accentuating the sky’s deep orange against the cold blue of the clouds. The colors are echoed in the tidal waters of Great Bay in the foreground. This photo was taken from the General Sullivan bridge which spans the narrows of the bay between Dover and Newington.

Stamp Treks – Paul Revere

Paul Revere StatueA statue of Paul Revere, the famous colonial American patriot whose midnight ride inspired the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, is prominently displayed in Boston’s North End. It’s located in the Paul Revere Mall, a tree-lined brick pedestrian area that leads to the Old North Church, founded in 1722. The steeple is where patriots hung the two lanterns referenced in Longfellow’s poem “One if by land, and two if by sea” to signal whether the British were marching across Boston Neck (now Back Bay) or rowing crossing the Charles River in preparation to raid  munitions stored in Concord.

Sunset at Herring Cove

Herring Cove is a popular destination for watching sunsets in New England. Since it faces west from the tip of Cape Cod, the sun sets on the waters of Cape Cod Bay. This is part of the Provincelands area of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Located right next to the colorful resort village of Provincetown, this is a wild area characterized by high dunes and low shrubs.
